In Smackdown's last show before WrestleMania, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan reunite, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn take over, and mind games continue between Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles.

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are on the same page

Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon come out to the ring, apologizing to one another—Bryan apologizes for putting his friendship with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in front of his job, and Shane apologizes for letting KO get into his head after he assaulted his father.

They hug it out, and then tell Sami and Kevin that a united team is bad news for them. After WrestleMania, KO and Sami will never set foot into a Smackdown Live arena again.

Opinion:

It looks like Daniel and Shane may go over at Mania, banishing Owens and Zayn from Smackdown and probably to Raw. The fans went crazy for the hug, and this segment was a feel-good one, especially after seeing that Shane is healthy and knowing Daniel Bryan can wrestle again.

Charlotte vs. Natalya

Winner: Charlotte

Highlights:

  • Charlotte climbs to the top rope but Natalya throws her off

  • Nattie catches Charlotte in a sleeper hold, but Charlotte picks her up and slams her down

  • Carmella runs out and hands the referee her MITB briefcase, but Charlotte kicks it away

  • Carmella eats a big boot from Charlotte, and Nattie capitalizes on the distraction and tries to roll her up

  • Charlotte captures Nattie in the Figure Eight and wins the match

  • Asuka comes out, telling Charlotte she was going to lose at Mania

  • Charlotte takes her microphone and asks Asuka if she’s ready for Charlotte

Opinion:

I am 100% team Carmella. I think it would be hilarious for her to dethrone Asuka after Asuka wins the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania. Everyone would be so mad to see Asuka’s streak come to an end at the hands of Ms. Money in the Bank, and Carmella would be the biggest heel in the women’s division in WWE. If anyone will beat Asuka clean, it’s Charlotte, but in this instance, I don’t see her winning at WrestleMania.

Jinder Mahal vs. Rusev

Winner: Rusev

Highlights:

  • Aiden English’s pre-match song introducing Rusev on Rusev Day

  • Rusev kicks Mahal in the side of the head

  • Sunil Singh gets on the apron, and Rusev kicks him too

  • Mahal tries to roll up Rusev but fails

  • Jinder eats a Matchka Kick for the win

  • Randy Orton hits Rusev with an RKO out of nowhere

  • English attacks Orton, but Bobby Roode pushes him off the middle rope and into an RKO

  • Orton and Roode look each other in the eyes in the center of the ring

Opinion:

I’m pretty excited about this match, to say the least. This match is going to be good at Mania, much like the other 9 matches on the card. It doesn’t stand out in any way from the others, but it isn’t going to be boring to watch.

Zack Ryder, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, and Tye Dillinger vs. Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Mojo Rawley, and Primo Colon

Winners: Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Mojo Rawley, and Primo Colon

HIghlights:

  • One by one, they all take turns sending each other over the top rope

  • Tyler Breeze super kicks Dolph Ziggler off the apron

  • Corbin tosses Breeze into a bunch of guys outside the ring and gives Fandango an End Of Days for the win

Opinion:

This segment honestly did get me a little more excited about the Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal. It was refreshing to see some guys who don’t usually make it on TV—I didn’t even know Primo Colon still worked for the company.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn take over

Emerging from the crowd, Sami and Kevin stand on the announce table. They scream that even if they’re fired, it’s still the Kevin and Sami show. They apologize to Bryan’s wife Brie and their daughter for ruining his WrestleMania and sending him back home broken.

Sami says it’s their dream to fight him, so they’re gonna fight for their dreams. They say that they will get their WrestleMania moment because that’s what they deserve, and a camera shows Shane and Daniel watching backstage. They motion off camera and leave to come out to the ring.

After they keep yelling, their microphones are cut and they start to retreat through the audience. Bryan tells them to stop, asking fans to record with their phones the last time Kevin and Sami will be on Smackdown Live.

Shane starts a goodbye chant for Owens and Zayn, and they angrily leave.

Opinion:

This is getting more and more intense. The feud has reached a boiling point, and this match might steal the show at Mania (this is difficult to say, because there’s like 4 matches that could steal the show). Everyone’s at the top of their game, and I’ve never wanted to see Kevin and Sami get their butts kicked more than I do now.

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

Winners: AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura

Highlights:

  • Shinsuke tags AJ by tapping his head and they argue until Gable and Benjamin attack them both

  • Gable lands a moonsault from the top rope onto Shinsuke

  • AJ delivers a Phenomenal Forearm to Gable for the three count

  • Styles leaves Nakamura in the ring, and he gets attacked by Shelton Benjamin

  • AJ gets in the ring and acts like he’s about to hit Nakamura with the Phenomenal Forearm, but stops right next to him and taps his head before leaving

Opinion:

I like the mind game angle with AJ and Shinsuke. You can tell that there’s no bad blood, just healthy competition for the title. This is a perfect way to have two faces go one on one in a high stakes matchup.
